LITTLE INTEREST

HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETING

SCHOOL COMMITTEE

ONLY A VERY FEW ATTEND

Very little interest was shown in the bi-ennial meeting of householders at the Paeroa District High School on Wednesday night, only a handful of residents other than committee members being present. An apology for absence was received from the mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, who was absent from Paeroa. Mr J. H. Walmsley was appointed to preside.

As the number of candidates did not exceed the vacancies the following were declared elected: Messrs C. C. Webb, M. Graham, B. A. Gwilliam, T. I. Jenkins, W. L. Marshall, R. S. Nicol, S. WheeTer, P. Williams, A. L. Wrigley. At the following committee meeting the following officers were appointed: Chairman, Mr C. C. Webb; secretary, Mr T. I. Jenkins; treasurer, Mr R. S. Nicol. The chairman and treasurer were authorised to operate the bank account. POOR ATTENDANCE MEETING HELD AT NGATEA There was a very poor -attendance at the bi-ennial meeting of householders held at Ngatea on Wednesday night to elect a committee for the Ngatea District High School. As the nominations received merely filled the vacancies on the committee no election was necessary. The new committee will be as follows: Messrs H. Hayward (chairman), W. E. Coeks (secretary-treasurer), D. A. Waite, H. Dalgety, L. E. Jackson, W. Jones, R. Williams/ A. Leonard and A. Whimp. The two last-named candidates are new nominations. Mr A. Leonard is a well-known Ngatea farmer and the son of an early settler. Mr A. Whimp, formerly manager of Tairua butter factory and now on the Ngatea butter factory staff, has had experience on school committees in other districts. Both men have children attending the school.
