MERCURY BAY’S FLOWER SHOW SUCCESSFUL DAY HELD The Mercury Bay Women’s Institute held its spring flower show recently. The weather was very dismal and plans’ to hold the show in the “ Mulberries ” were abandoned. Mir and Mrs W. Lowe lent their garage and home for the day and though the number of exhibits was considerably smaller than usual, the standard of entry was high. There was only about half the usual crowd present but the day was a success in spite of the weather. The president, Mrs Sharpies, opened the show. Mrs Walker was in charge of the bring and 'buy and Mrs Camp and Mrs Stocker were the judges. Members of the committee served afternoon tea. The prizewinners were: Best daffodil in the show, Mrs K. Harrison 1, Miss L. .Robinson H.C.; best three daffodils, any one variety, Mrs W. H. L. Robinson H.C.; best bowl of daffodils, Mrs K. Harrison 1, Miss L. Robinson H.C.; hand posy, Sonia Lee 1, Bill Lee H.C.; best vase of anemones, Mrs Russel 1, Mrs Armstrong H.C.; best vase of Iceland poppies, Mr H. Lugg; best vase hyacinths, Mrs Packer; best flowering shrubs, Mrs Tucker; floating bowl, Mrs H. Clark; head of stock, Mrs H. T. Robinson; bowl of freezias, Mrs V. E. Wells; bowl of flowers, Mrs’H. T. Robinson; vase' of flowers, Mrs Rhodes; men’s button, Mrs Fred Lee; shoulder spray, Mrs Bronlund. 1
