FAREWELL EVENING
MR AND MRS T. E. SIMPSON FUNCTION AT KUAOTUNU ■ A farewell to Mr and Mrs T. E. Simpson of Kuaotunu was held in the Kuaotunu hall recently. There was a large gathering from Kuaotunu and surrounding district including a good number from Whitianga. Lack of transport kept as many from attending. Mrs Les. Moyes was the musician and the dancing continued well into the early hours. The ladies served a very nice supper. ' Farewell speeches were made by Mr G. Ross, on behalf of the business people, Mr F. Brophy for the community, Mr Syd. Tucker for the Rugby union and Mr J. Bradshaw presented Mr Simpson with a fountain pen on behalf of the Kuaotunu Football Club. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Charlton and Mr Wilfred Simpson. Mr Simpson was county councillor for the Kuaotunu ridinig for some years and was past president of the Mercury Bay Rugby Union. Mrs Simpson was sole teacher at Kuaotunu School for several years.
