WAIKINO SEPTEMBER MEETING FOOD PARCEL COLLEJCTION The September meeting of the Waikino Women’s Institute was held in the Victoria Hall and the president', Mrs presided. Owing to bad weather the attendance was small. It was decided to collect Is per month for the “Parcels to Britain” fund. Mrs Watt read the prayer. 1 Birthday sprays were presented to Mrs A." Campbell and Mrs Jesney. Mrs Lithgow thanked the members for providing the articles for the group meeting. Waikino again- winning the Capper Cup. A donation of 10s 6d was sent to the lepers’ appeal. The roll call on . household calamity was very amusing. The competition, lighting the candle was won by Mrs l Walder. Mrs Lee won the roving shilling. A reading by Mrs Watt, “Such is life,” was well received. A competition, spring flowers in a 1 lb. jam jar resulted: Mrs Lithgow 1, Mrs J. Robinson. 2, Mrs Bartlett 3; shoulder spray: Mrs Bray 1, Mrs Olney 2. Remits to the bi-annual council meeting to be held at Thames in October, the voting powers were left to the delegate, Mrs Bray. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Mills, Mead, Metcalfe, Moule and McClintock.
