HARRIER RACING
INTER-CLUB RUN HELD HAMILTON MEMBER FIRST On Saturday last members of the C.Y.M. and Hamilton Harrier 'Clubs visited Paeroa for the annual interclub run between the three clubs; The fifty runners were split up into three packs and were dispatched at intervals. Before describing the course to the competitors, Mr F. Sharp took the opportunity of welcoming home a foundation member of the Paeroa Harrier Club, Murray Vuglar, who has returned from overseas. The course took the runners out the Waihi highway to the cemetery across country to Bennett street, out Thames road to the racecourse, one lap of the course and back along Station road. Included in the fast pack were members of the successful Waikato team at the New Zealand championships, D. Griggs and K. Trow. Both showed good form and were in the front at the finish. G. Spinks and V. Quayle of the Paeroa club were the best of the medium and slow packs runners. Following the run members were entertained to afternoon tea. Mr Sharp in welcoming the visiting harriers expressed the hope that they had enjoyed the run and expressed a desire that these inter-club runs' would become more frequent, as they were the means of a greater sense of good fellowship between harriers. Replying, Mr S. Wood, of Hamilton, thanked, the Paeroa club for entertaining the Hamilton harriers, and said that they had all enjoyed the run and the excellent afternoon tea provided fol' them. The results of the run were as follows: D. Griggs, Hamilton, 1; G. Spinks, Paeroa, 2; V. Qualye, Paeroa, 3; K. Trow, Hamilton, 4.
