PLAINS GRAZING SCHEME MEETING AT MIRANDA BLOCK FOR SETTLEMENT A largely attended meeting of Waitakaruru, Miranda and Mangatangi residents was held recently at Miranda to consider the proposed grazing scheme on the Miranda Crown block. Apologies were received from ten residents who opposed the scheme and who offered financial support to any effort to combat it. It was unanimously agreed at the meeting to urge the opening- up of the block for permanent settlement. A committee was formed comprising of Messrs C. Adams (chairman), F. Dalton (secretary), A. E. Sanderson, L. F. Mouldey, L. W. Hallams and A. Chipman. It was decided to communicate with the Minister of Land and the Commissioner of Crown Lands and to support the R.S.A. branches of Waitaka•ruru and Pukekohe in an effort to have the land permanently settled.
