TIME SIGNAL
ERECTION IN PAEROA CHAMBER’S SUGGESTION COUNCIL UNABLE TO ACT A suggestion that there should be installed in Paeroa a time signal, in the form of a siren, was made to the June meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council by the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce. The letter' read as follows: — “ At the last meeting of my chamber it was suggested that there would be benefit to the town in the installation of a daily time signal. The siren set up during the war could be used for this purpose and the chamber has made inquiry as to the probable cost of an automatic time signal. “ It would appear that this cost, to provide say four automatic signals daily would be about £l7, in the case of a single phase motor such as ths one in the present siren. This is of ■course an approximation only. “I am instructed to pass this recommendation on to your council for its consideration.”
Or. J. H. Walmsley pointed out that the siren in the town was being considered by the fire brigade committee as a fire alarm.
It was decided to inform the chamber that the matter would be deferred until the matter of the siren for fire alarms was finalised.
