METALLED AREAS
PROPERTY AT PAEROA ADVICE FROM THE MINISTER A communication was received at the May meeting of the. Ohinemuri County Council from Mr Jas. Thorn, M.P., supplying the following information which he had received from the Minister for Works, Hon. R. Semple, regarding a subsidy of £75 (£1 for £1) to give metalled road access to Mr Hautanga Peke’s property at Paeroa. 'Tn my letter of August 27, 1945, to you I indicated that the issue of the subsidy would be subject to the usual condition that the Ohinemuri County Council would first submit specifications to the Public Works Department and obtain approval from them. The position remains the same so far as my department is concerned and the next action appears to lie with the Ohinemuri County Council, which, if it is prepared to lift the subsidy, should proceed along the lines I have indicated,” wrote the Minister
The letter was received and the matter referred to the county engineer, Mr L. E. Shaw, for his action.
