DECISION OF THE BOARD

CUTS MADE INTO DRAIN

MATTER MUST BE ATTENDED TO

At the April meeting of the HaciTaki United Drainage Board it was •■decided to instruct Mr M. Martinovich, of Ngatea, to fill in, within 14 days, cuts he had made into the 'board’s drains. Mr Martinovich wrote to the May: meeting of the board 1 asking the members to inspect the area. “'I am very sorry to give you so much trouble practically for nothing and I hope you will not consider it is my fault as’ I have not given you much trouble in the past,” wrote Mr Martinovich. The letter continued: “I have not done some jobs before too quickly as I found out that I fell in as when members came along personally and inspected the area they gave me more satisfaction than I expected. I will be pleased to meet members of the board on the drain after I return from a short holiday.” The chairman, Mr C. K. Fox, said he had instructed the clerk to reply :as under:—-“I will remind you that the chairman and foreman have discussed this matter with you and as the board 1 is 1 fully* conversant with the position, there is nothing to be gained hy a further visit to .your property. The board intends to firmly abide by the decision that the cuts must be ■filled l in, and I must ask you to attend to the matter, as requested in our previous letter of April 2:4.”

The* chairman's action was approved.
