WHANGAMATA LADIES
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE FUND'S IN HEALTHY STATE A meeting of the Whangamatu Ladies’ Committee was held at the residence of Mrs Pat Phillips. Despite inclement weather there was a good attendance. Mrs R. Cornwell presided. A financial statement was tabled and showed a healthy position. It was decided to reserve the funds on hand for retaining home gifts ■to the local J Force members, six of whom were on final leave while three were already overseas. Letters of thanks were received from three local returned servicemen, Messrs L. Cornwell, R. Mason, B. Nipia, each expressing appreciation for the receipt of welcome home gifts. The president, in a very pleasing and entertaining manner presented the story “The Snow Goose,” after which a delicious cup of tea served by the hostess Mrs P. Phillips, brought to a close a very enjoyable day. The next meeting is to be held in the residence of Mrs Bentley, Whangamata Port on June 5.
