GOOD PROGRESS MADE
COROMANDEL DIVISION
OIFFTCERS FOR YEAR ELECTED
The usual monthly meeting of the Coromandel branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union preceded the annual meeting and was held in St. George’s Hall Supper Room, the president Mrs Mannion, presiding over a large attendance of members. The meeting opened with the Creed.
It was decided to continue holding the meetings on the fourth Saturday of the month as long as the shops were open on Saturday mornings.
'One nuw member was welcomed with acclamation. The meeting was then declared closed and the annual meeting took place. The secretary’s report proved an illuminating and well put together report on the year’s working. A vote of thanks to Mrs McNeil, the secretary, was accorded by acclamation. The president’s report was also read and a vote of thanks accorded to Mrs Mannion who thanked the members for their co-operation. It was recorded that eleven years ago when the division was formed there was a membership of 14—now there were 42 members and one life member. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President: Mrs Mannion, re-elected; secretary: Mrs McNeil, reelected; treasurer (general fund): Mrs Preece; treasurer (social fund): Mrs Dear Snr.: vice presidents: Mrs W. Evans and Mrs Bouskill; advisory board: Mesdames Notman and Bouskill; delegates to provincial council: Mesdames Mannion, McNeil and Preece; provincial committee member: Mrs Preece; committee: Mesdames W. H. urner, Lincoln, Tar-rant-Hosking, Notman, Brown, J. Ecclestone, M. Chrlson, E. Turner, Ball and Miss Blithe; trading table: Mesdames Adams, Notman and Miss Blithe.
A vote of thanks was passed by acclamation to Mrs Lucas for her excellent reports of divisions activities. A vote of thanks was also accorded to Mrs Notman and Miss Blithe who had looked after the trading table with such good results. At this stage lovely shoulder sprays were pinned on the three executive officers for the past year by M!rs C. McKenzie who also handed gifts of appreciation from the members and Mesdames Mannion, McNeil, Preece, Lucas, Notman and Miss Blithe. All suitably replied. As a number of members wished to attend the provincial meeting to be held in Thames early in May, it was decided to engage the bus for the day. The monthly competition was won by Mrs M. Carlson. The meeting closed with National Anthem after which a dainty afternoon tea was served.
