SITE FOR BOWLING GREEN OPINION FROM THE CLUB DECISION OF THE COUNCIL Advice from the 'Paeroa Bowling Club that in the opinion of members the site chosen for the additional bowling 'green on the -Paeroa Domain was not suitable was received at the May meeting of, the Paeroa Borough Council. Writing to the council the secretary of the club, Mr T. W. Pye, stated that members had fully discussed the proposal and appreciated the council’s offer of a grant of £l5O towards the cost of laying down a new green. “My club has instructed me to advise you that the site chosen by your Domain Committee is not a suitable one. It involves a good deal of expense in the removal of the present pavilion and trees 1 and' the general view taken by members is that the site of the present band rotunda would make a much better playing area, would avoid the necessity of the removal- of large trees and would 1 overcome the opposition expressed by the other, sports- bodies using the domain,” ran the letter. This club asked the council to reconsider its decision and give favourable consideratian to the band rotunda site as originally proposed by the club. The Mayor, Mr Ed'win EjdWards, said that the council had opposed the band- rotunda site and now should move that it regretted that no further consideration be given to the matter. Cr. EL L. Shaw moved in this direction, seconded by Or. F. J. Johnston and the resolution was carried.
