FARMERS’ UNION AFFAIRS
TO THE EDITOR Sir. —Referring to your report of March 29 of the Ngatea meeting of farmers, several points which should have equal publicity are as follows '('iji This meeting was held while the matters in dispute were being submitted to representatives of Auckland Provincial Fanners’ Union and the Pirovisional Council of Federated Farmers. Both sides had agreed to Call in their organisers. Was it cricket to convene this meeting at that juncture ? (£.)! Mr C. Parfitt moved the resolution, “That failing a solution by arbitration those interested form their own branch of Federated Farmers in the district.” Mr Parfitt’s opinion is, if we analyse his resolution, that if arbitration fails it will be the fault of Auckland. Ngatea will then proceed to form a branch of Federated Farmers' whether Auckland is to blame or not. Mr Parfitt also opines that if a solution was not found under arbitration that Auckland Farmers’ Union would find themselves with quite a lot of officers but no members. Have Messrs iParfitt, McMillan and Co. prejudged the case which has to go to arbitration? In view of the above the farmers who voted for this resolution should study the facts—it will pay them to do so. RQIBT. L. WILSON, Puriri, April 15, 19,46.
