FIVE APPLICATIONS
COROMANDEL WHARFINGER COUNTY OTVERISEER APPOINTED Five applications for the position of wharfinger were considered, at the April meeting of the Coromandel County Council. It was proposed by Cr, A. J. Notman and seconded by the chairman, Cr. E. Deeble, “that Mr W. J. Beech be appointed.” This was carried unanimously. 'Crs. F. J. Simpson, A. Watkins and W. Hamilton spoke of the long service given by Mr Beech to the council for over '3o' years, and owing to health reasons he had had) to apply for lighter work. His long and faithful
service should be put on record. On Mr Beech’s return to the council room the chairman told him of his appointment and that the personnel of the council regretted! that the time had come when his health had led' him to apply for a lighter job. His services over a long period of year-' would be placed on record. Mr Beech suitably replied: The position of county overseer being now vacant owing to the appointment of Mr W. J. Beech as wharfinger it was' proposed' by Or. Watkins and seconded by Cr. 'Simpson, “that applications be called to fill the position of county overseer at a salary of £773/3 per week.” Carried.
