LAWN TENNIS CLUB FINAL GAME'S IN PAEROA CHAMPIONSHIP TO WILLIAMS During the week-end the Paeroa Lawn Tennis Club’s competitions were finalised 1 . ' As there was no play in these competitions the previous weekend owing to the bad weather several players had to be scratched to enable the matches to be finished this weekend. iSome very good games were witnessed by the spectators and all the finals were closely contested.

At the conclusion of the day’s play Mr E. Lee, the president, presented the cups and trophies and' then declared the 194'5-46 tennis season closed. Results:—

Ladies’ Championship Singles.-— Semi-finals: Miss Taylor beat Mrs Masters 6 —l, 6—4; Mrs Nield 1 beat Mrs Whisker'5 — 6, 6—l, 6 —l. Final: Miss Taylor beat Mrs- Nield B'—6, 4— 6, 6—4. Men’s Championship Singles.— Semi-finals: A. C. E. Williams beat N. R. Harris.' 6—l, 6—6; H. R. Thorp beat V. O’Loughlin 6—4, 6 —l. Final: A. C. E. Williams beat H. R. Thorp 6—3, fr-41.

Championship Combines. — Semifinals': E. Meyer and Mrs Whisker beat N. McMillan and Miss P. Handley 6 —5, 6—l; F. Griffiths and Mrs Nield beat E. Lee and Mrs Masters 6—5, 6 —l. Final: F. Griffiths and Mrs Nield beat E. Meyer and Mrs Whisker 7—5.
