ISOLATION WARD
ADDITIONS & RENOVATIONS BUILDINGS AT THAMES PROSPECTS FOR COMPLETION The building of additions to the present isolation ward and extensive renovations to the existing isolation block of the Thames Public Hospital, which were started about October 15, are now well under way, and should be completed some time in February. At present the new building has reached the inside lining stage. The building, which is about 90 feet long and 50 feet wide, is made of fibrolite, as are the down pipes and spouting. Most probably it is the first building of its kind in Thames to have down pipes and spouting made of this material. When completed, the new ward will accommodate 10 patients and will also have a sister’s room, bathrooms, steriliser room arid all modern conveniences. A feature of the ward are the folding windows, along the wall facing the north, which give the building an attractive appearance. Extra conveniences in the ward are designed to accommodate the existing isolation ward.
Extensive concrete work has also been laid around the addition to the ward. At present four builders, all local men, are employed on the work.
