THE Hauraki Plains Gazette With which is Incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY. "Public Service.” FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1945. CHRISTMAS IS COMING
Christmas is less than one month distant. The long-awaited holiday festival is almost upon us, and yet we are so engrossed, in our every-day affairs that we are scarcely aware of its quiet approach. We can safely look forward to Christmas 1945 as being the happiest for some six years past. It is our first “peace” Christmas .since 1939, and there will be many happy reunions around the home festive boards which have not been possible throughout the weary war period. The approaching holiday is an historic one which can be regarded as an omen for the future wellbeing of the world in the midst of the uneasy, unsettled and disappointing conditions which have followed World War 11. ARE WE AIR-MINDED ? Determined and energetic as were the efforts of the borough council to finalise the Situation of a district aerodrome early in the present year, the community now finds the year drawing to a close, with the prospect just as distant as ever. Once more the question has been relegated l to the musty pigeon-holes labelled “steadily in view.” Now that the war is over, it is surely more urgent than ever before that Paeroa agitates through every possible avenue the action for the creation of its own aerodrome.
