CALVES AT NETHERTON
ANNUAL CLUB PARADE VERY SUCCESSFUL DAY A very successful calf club parade was held) in the Netherton School grounds, ,the weather being perfect . andi the children, who entered: over 30 calves, were keenly interested' 'in all the classes; Besides a large number of parents, and friends among those present were Mr L. R. Lewis, inspector of schools, Mr E. Morgan, headmaster of Kopu School and Mrs Morgan, and Mr H' G. McGowan, organiser of the Hauraki Group Calf Clubs. After the judging was over afternoon tea was served by Mrs B. E. Johnson, infant mistress, assisted by the senior girls, in the open-air infant school and. ice cream was provided' for all the children: present. During the afternoon a flower show, organised by the acting-head teacher, Miss R. E-. McGuire, was displayed in the assembly hall. Great credit is due to the committees who so willingly gave their time to make the day so enjoyable. Results:— Rearing, light breeds. — Senior: Althea Skinner 1, Raewyn Richmond 2, Jack Schuler 3. Junior: Lyall Williams 1, Joan Bennett 2, Ivan Cornish 3. Open, heavy breeds.—Eileen Tomlinson 1, Barry Coldicutt 2, Don McKee 3. Dairy type, special Friesian class. —Barry Coldicutt 1, Joe Doran 2, Don McKee 3. Light breeds-: Jack Schuler 1, Roy Bennett 2, Joan Bennett 3. Champion calf.—Jack Schuler 1, Roy Bennett 2, Joan Bennett 3. Consolation (leading).—Janet Morrison 1, Joan Bourne 2, Edna Prout 3. Yearlings. — Lorna Richmond 1, Raywyn Richmond 2, Joan Bourne 3. Best kept notebook.—Jack Schuler I, Lorna Richmond 2, Joe Doran 3. Baby show.—Joy Gorney 1, Elizabeth Geary 2, Noeline Trembath 3. Calf race.—Junior: O'. Madgwick 1, J. Aldous 2, L. Williams 3.
