PAEROA MEMBERSHIP 474 TOBACCO FOR SERVICEMEN GIFT CALF SCHEME PROGRESS A meeting of the executive . committee of the Paeroa-Hauraki Returned Services Association was held recently. Mr R. S. Nicol reported that the gift calf scheme for servicemen was running smoothly. He had 90 calves on hand but several lists had yet to be received. He and Mr P. Williams were to meet the Farmers’ Union and Dairy Producers’ Association to discuss grazing, branding, etc. The Christmas-tree Party subcommittee reported that everything was well in hand. The whole HaurakiPaeroa would participate with the exception of 'Waitakaruru and. Ngatea. Waitakaruru was holding a party there but this sub-committee would! assist with the purchase of gifts if necessary. Monthly Return of Membership Membership on October 30' was 474 including 222 from the second world war. During the month of October, 15 applications for membership were received', four members, joining on transfer and two transferred out. These were all accepted to membership. It was reported that tobacco and cigarettes were no longer available for coupon bearing servicemen at the Army Office, Paeroa. It was left with the president and secretary to investigate the matter.
