COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
FUNCTION AT WAITAKARURU MR & MRS W. HEGH ENTERTAIN Mr and Mrs W. Hegh of Waitakaruru entertained 1 a large number of friends in the Waitakaruru hall on Monday September 24 in honour of the coming of age of their only son Bill. The hall was beautifully decorated for the occasion and music for dancing was supplied by Walker’s orchestra. Three long tables simply groaned with delicacies for supper, and following this : repast toasts were given with much enthusiasm. Mr Joe Erown was toast master, and called on a toast for “The King.” Mr Len Nicholson gave the toast for the guest of honour, to which Bill responded, following which Mr Hegh presented Bill with the traditional “key.” At this point the' orchestra struck up “Twenty-One To-day” and the guests joined in the singing. Other toast were Mr and Mrs Hegh, Victory, The Ladies, and the’Orchestra. Items during the evening were supplied by Bill Hegh in solos and humour with Mrs Wallace, songs by Miss Jean Dalgety, Mr Tunny Clark, Mr lan Jamieson, Miss Lorna Dick, accordian, Misses Nicholson and James, tap dances, Mrs Wallace and Mr Ganley dancing exhibition. Duets, Misses G. and D. Paton.
Competition winners were Statue waltze, Miss Gwen Fox and Mr Tunny Clark, monte carlo, Miss B. Rountree and Mr Noel IPaton, spot waltze, Miss Cynthia Stewart and Mr Dave Dalgety.
