FARMERS MEET

WAITAKARURU BRANCH AFFAIRS OF THE DISTRICT The September meeting of the Waitakaruru branch of the Farmers’ Union was -well attended. Mr N. W. Hedges presided. Amongst the business were letters from Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P. for the district, and from the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding the raising of funds for the welfare of the district. The matter was left over until the next meeting of the Waitakaruru Improvement Society. MiHedges reported having interviewed the traffic inspector in an endeavour to have some of the work classed' as essential.

Mr T. Evans reported that he attended the court on behalf of the branch with regard to the granting of a taxi licence, and was pleased to say that this had been granted. Mr J- Wilson was delegated to investigate the possibility of re-form ing a branch of the St. John Ambulance in the district.
