A NAZI’S FOOLISH PRIDE THE HEIGHT OF FOLLY It happened during the last memorable days of the war in Europe. As the Allied forces swept onward into Germany, great crowds of enemy soldiers gladly surrendered. All they wanted was to be out of the fighting. Now and then an odd S.S. man was brought in—stern, truculent and dour. One of these was carried in, badly wounded. He required an immediate blood transfusion, and was told so by the doctor. ‘Will it be 'British bloodl?” asked the 'German. “Yes, good British blood,” replied the doctor, who added solemnly, “If you refuse it, you will die.” “Then,” answered the proud Nazi, “I would' rather die.”

A short time afterwards his body was carried out for burial.

Eiverywhere to-day there are two classes of people. First those-who, knowing that they are doomed and going on to judgment, gladly surrender themselves to Christ for salvation. Then there is the other typified in the proud Nazi, who though they (know their need and the remedy—the blood of Christ—yet defiantly refuse it, preferring rather to die in their sins. No wonder- the Allied soldiers said of this poor deluded man, “What a fool!” Every day men and women are being fooled even more than this German —fooled into believing that they should rather die without mercy than to accept God’s salvation, purchased by the shed blood of Christ. Surely such an attitude is the height of folly.’

Reader, the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ was shed for you. It is available for your salvation—if you will accept it. Refuse it, and you must die in your sins, unfit for heaven. “Despisest thou the riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance ? (Romans/2:4). —P.'B.A.
