WORKING WELL

PLAINS WATER SUPPLIES LEAK ON WANES ROAD That both the East and West water supplies are working satisfactorily was reported by the water works supervisor, Mr J. Bradford, to the September meeting of the Hauraki Plains County 'Council. The report read as under: — “■East water supply.—The timbering of the section of the pipe line on the mud flat at the bottom of Huirau road has been completed. The supply was shut off for two days. This stretch of pipe line should cause no more trouble as it is now all cradled from the end of the steel pipes which cross the river to the foot of the trestle bridge, A sealing drum is being used on one of the joints on the Hauraki road trestle bridge. This was leaking slightly. “The shipping signs at the Waihou river have been repainted. No repair work has been d'one on any of the mains.

“West water supply.—Some service connections have been replaced and other maintenance work canned out,”

The clerk, Mr E. A .Mahoney, said that a big break on Wani’s road was being repaired that day.
