GRAZING ON ROADS

STOCK DAMAGE DRAINS COMPLAINT TO COUNCIL “Tthis board desires to draw the attention of your council to the damage being caused to roadside drains by stock grazing on the roads and it is considered that appropriate action should be taken against the owners of offending stock,” stated a letter from the Hauraki United Drainage Board to the September meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. “Any' action by your council that will put an end to this practice of grazing and using roads as holding paddocks, will be greatly appreciated,” the letter added.

The chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, said that in future the police should be contacted when stock were grazing on the roads asking them to take the necessary action.
