OVER 1000 DOGS

PLAINS CANINE POPULATION NUMBER REGISTERED TO DATE That a total of 1000 dogs had already been registered on the Hauraki Plains and that a further 200 collars had been ordered was reported by the inspector, Mr W. W. Williams, to the September meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Councilor. F. Pinchess said there had been several cases of sheep worrying in the Waitakaruru district. He asked that a check-up be carried out in his district. There were a number of dogs running about without collars. The inspector said that many people did not bother to put the new collars on their dogs. The clerk, Mr E. A. Mahoney, said more dogs had been registered this year than ever in the history of the county.
