SOWERS FROM MIDDLE EAST WELCOME AT COROMANDEL Adler four years’ active service ovei’seas two 'Coromandel soldiers, Sgt. T. C. Turner and Pte K. A. McNeil arrived back in 'Coromandel on Friday, September 7. Quite a representative gathering of the residents was waiting at the 'Bank corner to welcome the boys home. The Coromandel Silver Band' was also to the front in honour of two of their owr. bandsmen and. played two marches of welcome. Mr E. Deeble and Mr J. Murphy spoke a few words of welcome on behalf of residents and the R.'S.A. Earlier in the week two other soldier.', Pte. R. Ward of Colville and Pte. Jim Lee of Papa-aroha, who have been l prisoners of war in Europe, arrived home. Owing to the uncertainty and late knowledge of their arrival, residents were unable to turn out in force but the men were welcomed home by 'Mr Deeble on behalf of the residents and 'Mr Murphy on behalf of the R.S.A.
Official welcomes will be given the men in the near future.
