PRODUCTIVE ABILITY
CAPACITY OF HAURAKI PLAINS
POSSIBILITIES OF THE FUTURE
Some interesting facts regarding the productive ability of the Hauraki Plains was given by thechairman of the Hauraki Plains County Council, Mr C. W. Parfitt, at the close of the December meeting on Wednesday. The New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company’s Waitakaruru cheese factory had steadily increased its output, said Mr Parfitt until to-day it is the third largest cheese factory in New Zealand.
Recently, continued Mr Parfitt, the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Compahy’s Ngatea butter factory achieved a record output of 450 boxes of butter for one day. This figure was achieved notwithstanding the fact that the company also operated a cheese factory alongside the butter factory. •
Actually, continued Mr Parfitt, the capacity of the Hauraki Plains for production of butterfat had only been scratched and a wonderful future lay ahead ’for the district.
