PROCEEDURE QUESTION

STATEMENT BY MINISTER MR SUTHERLAND INTERESTED Notice of a question regarding procedure was given by Mr A. S. Sutherland (National, Hauraki), in the House of Representatives. The question was as follows, and it was directed to the Prime Minister: “Was the Minister of Transport expressing Jhe Government’s considered view when he alleged in a telegram to the Hoki-tika-Westland R.S.A. which has published a protest, that a political party had agitated for the sending of many telegrams protesting against the Government’s sympathetic policy in dealing with military defaulters? If not, what action does the Prime Minister propose taking to keep in check such Ministers who convey the impression that they are speaking on behalf of the Government when they are merely expressing their own personal view?”
