CONCERT IN PAEROA

SALVATION ARMY FUNCTION SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY A delightful concert was held by the Paeroa Salvation Army recently to firing to a happy conclusion their Sunday School anniversary. Major Elford, who, until recently, was known to many radio listeners as Uncle Charlie of 4YA, journeyed from Auckland to conduct these special meetings.

<• The services on Sunday were well attended. The children, under the leadership of Bandmaster J. Brock, did splendidly with their company songs. Individual vocal items were rendered by Isabel Keutenius, Dawn Wilkinson, Valerie Armstrong, Colleen and Nellie Keoghan. At the close of the afternoon service, the primary children received their prizes' for good attendance. The hall was filled to its capacity for the concert, which was presided over by Uncle Charlie. His witty remarks and fun all added to the evening’s entertainment. The children gave of their best and delighted the audience with their dialogues, action songs, drills, etc. A special feature during the programme was a top-spinning demonstration by Uncle Charlie.

At the conclusion of the concert the senior young people were presented with their prizes. Altogether the week-end was a great success and helpful to both children and parents alike.
