POLICY OF BOARD
SINGLE MEN ON APPEAL
STATEMENT BY CHAIRMAN
That there would need to be exceptional circumstances before the board could grant any exemption for grade one single men and married men with no children was announced by the chairman, Mr Edwin Edwards, at a sitting of the No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board held in Paeroa on Monday. The chairman stated that the board had definite instructions on the subject and men were needed to replace the men with three years’ and more service who were being brought back to New Zealand from the Middle East. Men who had seen service in the Pacific area explained the chairman, had the right to appeal on three grounds. The present employer could appeal for him, then his pre-service employer could appeal and the soldier, his wife or mother, could appeal on the grounds of hardship.
