ANNUAL MEETING OF CLUB

OFFICERS FOR THE YEAR

SOUND POSITION DISCLOSED

The annual meeting of the Hikutaia Polo Club was held in the Hikutaia Hall recently. The president, Mr G. Avery, presided over a good attendance. The secretary-treasurer Mr J. Goonan read the report and balance sheet, the latter showing that the position of the club was very sound financially, there being a credit balance of £2O 16s sd. Mr Avery who moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet congratulated the secretary in his report and also on his balance sheet, its healthy condition being mostly due to careful handling by the secretary.

Work Of President

Mr Avery was re-elected president and thanked the meeting for their confidence in him.

The secretary also congratulated Mr Avery on the way he had carried out the duties of president during the season and thanked him for his help throughout.

The president asked the meeting to stand in silence '‘'for a minute as a mark of respect to the late Mr Woods of Morrisville, who had acted as timekeeper at many matches in Hikutaia.

It was decided to forward a letter of thanks and appreciation to- Mr- A. A. Jenkinson for his services as honorary auditor. The fees for the coming season were fixed at the us-ual iWs 6d.

Mr Flavell Donates Cup

The secretary read a letter received from Mr G. A. Flavell in which he said he- wished to present the club with a cup to be played for under the same condition as- the “Green Cup.” This cup had been received and was a very fine cup, said Mr Avery, who moved- that the secretary write and thank 'Mr Flavell for his generous action and say it would be competed for this season.

Mr Avery and 'Mr Goonan spoke of the good services Mi’ Flavell had rendered to the club both as player and secretary and Mr Goonan moved that he be made a life member of the club. This was decided on unanimously. It was decided to forward a letter of appreciation of his services to Mr Healey now a resident of Auckland. Mr Avery took the occasion to welcome back to the club, Mr Pat Goonan after being absent on active service. Mr Avery said how pleased they all were to have him with them again.

Opening Day

It was left in the hands of the committee to dtecide the date of the opening day.

At the beginning of the meeting Mr Avery welcomed the press representative for the Hauraki Plains Gazette and stated that the reports on the games had always been a great help to polo and kept the game in the public, eye. The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair. Officers Elected

Green, A. Duncan; delegates, Messrs G. Avery and J. Goonan; club captain, Mr Cedric Murdock; hon. auditor, Mr A. A. Jenkinson; official timekeeper and scorer, Mr B. A. Kelly.
