PAEROA* dOLF CLUB FUNCTION ON SATURDAY PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES There was a large attendance of members together with a number of visitors from neighbouring clubs present at the official closing of the Paeroa Golf Club held at Rotokohu on Saturday. A light shower did not interfere with play and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. • A Canadian foursome was played, the winners being Mrs A. Nield and Mr W. Johnstone. An excellent afternoon tea was served by the lady members of the club after which the president, Mr A. E. Day presented the trophies won during the season. Canadian foursomes.—Mrs- Carroll and Mrs Jennings. At the conclusion of the prize-giv-ing to lady members, Mrs J. Silcock, president of the ladies’ club, on behalf of the lady members presented Mrs L. Jones, captain, with a golf club in appreciation of her work on their behalf. The presentation was roundly applauded. Mrs Silcock also made a presentation to Miss R. Dickson whose marriage is to take place shortly. Men Club Championship.—Senior: H. Morgan. Junior: R. Hubbard. ON THE PLAINS CLOSING LABOUR DAY After experiencing a successful season of golf, the Hauraki Plains Golf Club is arranging for its closing day to be celebrated during the Labour Day week-end. Several matches have been played during recent weeks, the details being:— '■ Men’s Matches Mr Murphy’s trophy for an 18-hole ■bogey match.—Winner, L. Burns, 5 down. The president, Mr A. McPherson, donated a trophy for an 18-hole 4-iball best-ball Stableford match, which was won by L. Burns and G. Birkenhead, with 42 points. Ladies’ Matches Medhl round for president’s trophy was won by Mrs Porter. Foi- Mrs Pacey’s trophy, a bqgey match was played, Mrs Main, with 21 points* being the winner.
