ALL NOT WELL

STABILISATION POLICY OPINION OF MR SUTHERLAND The contention that the National Party’s stabilisation policy was just and would be well received by the farming community was put forward by Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P. for Hauraki, when speaking on the Finance Bill in the House of Representatives recently. The Government had been trying to convince the country that all was well with stabilisation, but, Mr Sutherland said, he was not convinced of that; and he did not think that many farmers were. War workers and many other sections of the community had had their wages brought, well up to tk!e 1943 level, or to the end of 1942 when stabilisation eame in, but the farmers were still on 193 g prices with 1943 costs. The Party’s policy would mean that «tab~ ilisation was fairly applied, and he bad no doubt that the farmers would support that policy.
