GOLDEN WEDDING

MR AND MRS J. H. BAILEY CELEBRATION AT WHAREPOA The golden wedding of Mr and Mrs J. H. Bailey was celebrated at Wharepoa on June 21. Mr and Mrs Bailey wen- married at Upper Waiwera on June 21, 1893, by the Rev. J„ W. Buchanan. Born at Mangatoroto, Mr Bailey is the second son of the late Mr and Mrs C. Bailey, of Mount Eden, Auckland. The bride was born in Upper Waiwera, and is the daughter of two of the earliest pioneers of Auckland, tie late Mr and Mrs A. Hall. There are 10 children living, 28 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Mr and Mrs Bailey are in posses* sion of one of the earliest photographs of Auckland, taken in 1834. A sketch / was tak r n of the photo in 1844 an* published in the “Bell,” an old Auckland newspaper, in 1887.
