FIRST BIRTHDAY
LITTLE ANN PHILLIPS TUCKER FUNCTION AT COROMANDEL The first birthday of little Ann Phillips Tucker, only daughter of Constable and Mrs S. Tucker, of Whitianga,, Mercury Bay, was celebrated on March 31 at the residence of Constable and Mrs A. McLellan, Coromandel.
When little Ann Phillips Tucker was born at Coromandel <?ne year ago. the date coincided in a most remarkable way with the date, March 31, 102 years ago. In that year, 1841, the ship William Bryan landed at New Plymouth with its first load of settlers for the Taranaki. Among these settlers was the present little Ann Phillips Tucker’s great grand aunt, the original Ann Phillips. Little Ann is the fifth generation’s representation of the Tucker family. Completely unaware of her historical significance or the anniversary her birthday celebrated, little Ann, daintily attired in a complete outfit of pretty blue, smiled happily while the adults lit the solitary candle and toasted the health of Ann Phillips Tucker.
