FATALLY INJURED

FORMER PAEROA MAN MR JOSEPH THOMAS JASPERS Caught in the belting of the stonecrushing plant in Waihopai rivershed, Mr Joseph Thomas Jaspers, formerly of (Paeroa, a married man, aged 30, of Nelson, suffered fatal injuries. The accident occurred at knock-off time on Saturday after the engine had heen actually turned off. Mr Jaspers fell against the main belt and the last revolutions of the machinery dragged him round, inflicting terrible leg injuries. He died shortly afterwards in the Tairau hospital. Mr J. T. Jaspers, who was wellknown in Paeroa, was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs P. Jaspers, formerly proprietors of the Tip Top Milk Bar in Paeroa. Deceased was married to Miss G. Bowling, of Paeroa, and leaves a widow and one child.
