FOREMAN RESIGNS
VALLEY DRAINAGE BOARD \ APPRECIATION EXPRESSED A letter indicating that he wished to resign from his position as working foreman of the Thames Valley Drainage Board in order to take up duties in his new position as Noxious Weeds Inspector for the Piako County, was received from Mi- R. D. Eastwood when the Drainage Board met on Thursday. Mr Eastwood’s resignation was accepted with regret, and bn the mo- * tion of the chairman (Mr F. E. Hughes) and iMr W. W. Dunn, appreciation of Mr Eastwood’s services were placed on record.
It was then decided to advertise the position.
Borne discussion on the shortage of labour ensued and a suggestion that board members be empowered to let the cleaning of drains to ratepayers in some cases, was agreed upon.
