FALSE ECONOMY
THIN MILKING INFLATIONS PROTEST FROM FARMERS QUESTION TO BE INVESTIGATED The false economy of making milking inflations at half thickness was objected to at Tuesday’s meeting of the Northern Thames Sub-Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union held at Paeroa.
Mr A. J. Campbell (Waikino), quoted an instance of rubbers made so thin that they hurst before they could be put on the machine properly. Mrs A. H. Blackmore (Waihi), said she had seen the inflations and they were only paperthick. It was a definite waste of rubber.
Only two sets of inflations each year would be allocated to each farmer and if they were not thick enough to stand up to the work two sets a year would not be enough, she contended. The amount of the allocation of inflations per year was questioned and nobody was able to state definitely whether such were the regulations.
The question of the quality of the inflations was referred to Auckland for investigation.
