NEW ROUTE TO RAILWAY OPINION OF THE COUNTY TIME HARDLY OPPORTUNE The suggested road to form a direct route from Puke road to Coionation street, Paeroa Railway Station and the saleyards, was again before the Ohinemuri County Council at its meeting on Wednesday, when a letter from the Paeroa Borough Council was fully discussed. Cr. Shallue said that the time was hardly opportune for such proposals. Many far more necessary roads had either, been left in abeyance or abandoned for the present. Even Thorp’s road in the county, which had been commenced, was at a definite standstill owing to the loss of machinery and manpower to emergency works. After several other members had expressed their views it was agreed that owing to the conditions pi evailing, this council cannot see its way clear to support this new project.
