CLOTHING COUPONS
FROCK MADE BY DRESSMAKER VALUE OF THE GARMENT The fact that a person must part with the full number of coupons for a garment, even when it is made by a tailor or dressmaker from material purchased elsewhere, was stressed by the president of the Otago Retailers’ Association, Mr L. A. Doolan. It was commonly believed, he' said, that, when material was supplied, the purchaser’s liability for coupons was ended, but he explained, that any establishment which made a garment from material supplied must collect from the client coupons for the difference between the number surrendered for the material and the coupon value of the completed garment. If a person bought ‘syds. of material 36in. wide, five coupons would have to Ibe given up. A dressmaker, making a costume from this, material, would collect from the customer six coupons when the garment was completed.
