TREES ON SCENIC RESERVES

KAURIS NEAR MERCURY BAY

At the monthly meeting of the Coromandel County Council a lettei* was received from the Forestry Department in reply to a letter send by this council asking about the suggested cutting of kauris on the scenic reserve on the Mercury Bay road. The letter stated that the ‘Conservator of Forests emphatically stated that under no consideration would kauri trees on scenic reserves be allowed to be cut.

Satisfaction was unanimously expressed by the council that these trees would be preserved.
