SELLING FREELY

DAIRY COWS CLOSE TO PROFIT PIG PRICES SHOW ADVANCE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report that at their weekly Morrinsville stock sale on Friday a large yarding of fat sheep and lambs sold at recent quotations. Store lambs and breeding ewes came forward in full numbers and were disposed of under steady bidding at late rates. A good entry of beef met steady competition with values- showing an improvement on last week’s rates. Boners were again handled in full numbers and realised fully up to schedule rates. Yearling and empty 2-year Jersey heifers were keenly sought after at advanced prices. A full entry of dairy cattle maintained steady competition at values on a par with last week’s rates. Dairy, cows and heifers of quality and close to profit sold freely. More backward sorts were slower of sale.

The advertised entry of East Coast breeding and empty cows was submitted, but owing to the cold weather their condition was not as good as usual. The same can be said for the male cattle which also arrived by road, and were showing the effects of the journey. There was a large attendance of buyers with competition steady throughout, a total clearance .being effected at satisfactory prices.

There was a medium yarding of all classes of pigs. The demand throughout was keen and values in advance of those ruling last week.
