OBITUARY
MRS G. J. CREIGHTON DEATH AT RAWENE The sad news that Mrs C. J. Creighton of Mangamuka, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs James Hamilton of Whenuakite had died suddenly in the Rawene Hospital at the early age of 30 years' was received with profound regret in the Mercury Bay district. The late Mrs Creighton who was school teaching up to a few days prior to her death contributed eleven and a-half years of excellent service to the teaching profession. Her teaching career commenced at the Coromandel district school, covering some two years. A second appointment to the Dunsdale School covered a period of four years, this appointment being followed by two years of useful service in her home school of Whenuakite where her Stirling qualities won the high esteem and admiration of the district.
The late Mrs Creighton’s appointment to the Mangamuka School was made some three years ago and the m'any friends who followed her career with interest have secured excellent reports of her devoted service not only to the mental development of her pupils but to their general welfare.
In the passing of the late Mrs
Creighton many little Maori iboys and girls in the Mangamuka- district 'have lost not only a capable teacher but a devoted friend whose self-sacrifice contributed much to their comfort and happiness and gratitude in their ' little hearts constitutes a worthy memorial to her excellent work on their behalf.
The sympathies of the district go out to her husband Cpl. J. RCreighton, serving overseas and to Mr and Mrs James Hamilton and family, Whenuakite.
