SOLDIER’S APPRECIATION
PAEROA PATRIOTIC PARCEL
“ Just a few lines to let you know that I received your most welcome parcel two days ago. I can assure you I appreciated it very much indeed and I wish to thank you very much for pt,” writes a former resident of Paeroa, Pte. F. A. Denton, who is now with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the Middle East, to Mrs W. J. Towers, of Towers street, Paeroa.
Pte. Denton explained that he left Paeroa 18 years ago and. the receipt of a patriotic parcel from that town had brought back old memories when he had attended school with members of Mrs Towers’ family.
“I met my brothel* Jack in Cairo for the first time for fifteen years. He was only a little boy when I left Paeroa. A great place to meet, wasn’t it, after all these years? He is quite well just at present,” the letter concluded.
