ANZAC SERVICE
COMMEMORATION AT NGATEA
APPROXIMATELY 400 ATTEND
Approximately 400' people attended the Anzac commemoration service held in the Ngatea Public Hall on Anzac Day. Captain V. C. Bunce led the service and Rev. J. More delivered an impressive address. A combined choir rendered the anthem “Rock of Ages” and. also led in the singing of the hymns. Many floral tributes were offered to those who had made the supreme sacrifice in both the Great Wais. The weather was perfect. A large parade under the command of Major E. A. Mahoney, assembled at Douglas’ paddock and was piped to the hall.
The assembly included Returned Nurses, R.S.A., Home Guard, W.W.S.A., St. John Ambulance, Cubs and Scouts and was perhaps the most inspiring tribute of all., Parades with crowded attendances of ..residents, were also held at Patetonga, Turua and Waitakaruru.
