MONTHLY MEETING HELD

MR J. THORN, M.P., TO REPORT

The monthly meeting of the Paeroa Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held in the Trades and Labour Rooms on Thursday. The president, Mr G. R. Whiting, presided over a large attendance.

Correspondence was read and received from the Minister of Defence and the national secretary.

The delegates who attended the annual meeting of the labour Representation Committee made a lengthy report and stated that Mr JThorn, M.P., would represent this branch at the Labour Party’s annual conference held at Easter,

The secretary was instructed to write to Mr Thorn and ascertain the date that would be convenient for him •to meet members of the Paeroa branch and make his report.

The social committee consisting of Mrs E. Spinks and J. Hill, reported on the patriotic card tournament which was a great success and also reported on the progressive euchre tournament.

Six new members were proposed and admitted to the party and were given a hearty welcome.
