BOROUGH WORKS

STREET IMPROVEMENTS PATH TO NEW SCHOOL SITE PAEROA COMMITTEE’S REPORT. Maintenance work had been attended to as usual during the past month, reported the Paeroa Borough Council’s works committee on Thursday evening. With the use of the county portable crusher, metal had been crushed in the local quarry and Bush and Buchanan streets and part of Moore road had been metalled, and a start made on Miller avenue from Kennedy street to the Technical School.

The road to the wharf had again cut up and it was hoped also to crush metal for repairs, which to make a good job would require about 100 yards. Concentration on metalling had delayed progress with footpath improvements but it was hoped to make progress with the Puke road path during the coming month. In view of the recent purchase of a site adjoining the tennis club’s property for an Intermediate and High School, consideration would have to be given to forming a path from the Ohinemuri river bridge to this point. Tree planting was carried out in Hill street on Arbor Day thus adding another street to the list of those similarly treated. Domain and greens had received usual attention.
