KITCHEN EVENING

FUNCTION AT WHAREPOA. On Wednesday evening the Wharepoa Hall was crowded with residents of the Wharepoa and Hikutaia districts when a kitchen evening, organised by a Wharepoa committee, was tendered to Miss Kath Fleming and Mr S. Watts, in honour of their approaching marriage.

A very jolly evening was spent in euchre, dancing and games, music for dancing being supplied by Mesdames Burchart and Wilkins and Misses R. and F. Smith and Mr Harold Smith. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs Tompkins and Mr Bird. After a dainty supper had been served Mr E. Bax, who was M.C., asked the guests of honour to accept the large number of useful and handsome gifts that had been given. Mr Watts on behalf of Miss Fleming and himself thanked everyone for their great kindness and generosity. Miss Fleming was also the recipient of a dainty posy, the work of Mrs Henwood, and presented to her by Miss P. Winder. Miss Kath Fleming wore midnight blue flat crepe; Mrs Fleming wore figured marocain; Miss J. Fleming wore vieux rose taffeta; Mrs Watts wore black silk , marocain.
