PLAINS DRAINAGE

RATES STRUCK BY WEST BOARD THE PUHANGA ISLAND PUMP. The Hauraki Plains West Drainage Board met at Ngatea on Monday evening. Present: Messrs C. W. Parfitt, chairman; A. H. McClean, J. Donaghy, T. A. McClean, and the clerk, Mr F. E. Hammond.

Rates for the year were struck as follows: Ngatea-Pipiroa division, lid; Puhanga Canal division, 3d; Waitakaruru division, A lid, B Id, C id. The chairman and Mr T. A. McClean were deputed to confer with the engineer of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board regarding the installation of the new pump, on the Puhanga Island block.

Mr H. T. P. Evans was granted permission to install a four-foot culvert in the north roadside drain of the Wai-takaruru-Pipiroa section of the state

highway. The financial statement was received. It was decided that developmental work should be discussed at the next meeting. Accounts to the amount of £lB2 19s Cd weie passed for payment.
