FAREWELL SOCIAL

TWO PAEROA RESIDENTS CRUISE ON THE CAP PILAR. A social to farewell Messrs W. B. Sutherland and Stewart (“Cob”) Talboys who are leaving on a world cruise on the sailing vessel Cap. Pilar was held in the Parish Hall last evening, there being a large attendance. Music was supplied by Messrs L. and G. Vercoe. Mr G. Niblock was M.C. Supper was served by lady helpers. On behalf of the friends of the guests Mr D. G. McMillan made a small presentation and referred to the great opportunity for adventure they had in the cruise they were embarking upon. He also paid a tribute to Mr Sutherland’s interest in football and tennis in Paeroa during his three years’ residence here. The singing of “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” was followed by a short response from each of the guests.
